I had the pleasure of covering Monday’s ground breaking ceremony for the iconic Sandlake location of McDonald’s. The fry-box shaped restaurant and Orlando attraction will be going through a major transformation in the next few months. Special guests including the Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, Ronald McDonald and Gregg Oerther spoke on the history of this McDonald’s and the bright future ahead. The new and improved restaurant definitely takes food and fun to the max. Designed by McDonald’s Corporation and the engineering form CPH, it will be almost 19,000 square feet including a sleek design, chef-inspired menu along with the regular McDonald’s menu we all love, an open kitchen design, a modern energy-efficient power management system, and some of the historic memorabilia from the original restaurant.
