Since 1995, the team at Hebni Nutrition Consultants have made it their sole purpose to educate high-risk, culturally diverse populations about nutrition strategies to prevent diet-related diseases. This year, they have taken this mission one step further with the launch of the The Fresh Stop Bus. With the help of their community partners, Florida Hospital, Orange County Government, Winter Park Health Foundation and the Florida Department of Health, they built this specially outfitted mobile produce market to service needy communities in and around the Orlando area.
Many of the Hebni Nutrition visitors live in food deserts, areas without easy access to fresh and nutritious foods. Knowing the difficulty that their clients have faced to implement healthy eating into their lifestyle, they have extended themselves directly to their neighborhoods through the Fresh Stop.
I was proud to be one of the many media outlets covering this grand opening on December 5, 2015. There were may special guests including Mayor Buddy Dyer, who spoke on how lucky the city of Orlando is to have an organization who cared enough about the deserving communities who lacked access to proper nutrition. Keep watch for their bus route and make sure to support!
